Seattle, Washington

This was our first time in the Northwest and it’s absolutely gorgeous! We started our trip off hiking a few days at Mt. Rainer before heading up to Seattle for the rest of the trip.

Mt. Rainer is crazy. One minute it is a lovely fall day, then you drive like 10 minutes and it’s the dead of winter. We hiked quite a few different trails during our two days on the mountain. We quickly realized that our favorite hikes lead us to waterfalls. Our last hike was intense! It started off in the fall and after about an hour or so of hiking up the mountain, it turned into winter. The steps got icy and the ledges got slippery. We kept trucking on because we knew there were waterfalls at the end. Eventually, we made it to the end and were proud of ourselves for making it that far and started the trek back down. Can’t wait to return someday. The park is a true American beauty.

Check out our new best friend, Pika. This mountain-dwelling fur ball said bon voyage to us as we left Rainer.

Then we made our way to Seattle. Thanks to the abundance of coffee, we were able to make it to quite a few places: the original Starbucks on Pike Place, the Pike Place Market, the Space Needle, and the Chihuly Gardens. We also enjoyed our time on the pier, including a visit to the Seattle Aquarium and a ride on The Seattle Great Wheel. Seattle also has an abundance of breweries to enjoy – if you are into the craft beer scene like us. We saw a lot in our short stay and enjoyed every minute!
