Montego Bay, Jamaica

Our recent trip to Montego Bay, Jamaica, was a tropical paradise filled with unforgettable experiences. Our home away from home was Ocean Eden Bay resort.

Jamaican cuisine was something we looked forward to and it did not disappoint. Must-try dishes like rice and peas (which are beans, actually), festival, and an array of jerk-infused delights was always on the menu. The diverse selection of rums, including Appleton Estate and Plantation, offered a taste of Jamaica’s rich history. Not to be missed was the delightful rum cream, a daily indulgence for us.

One evening we went to a Bob Marley tribute dinner and show, celebrating the legend’s impact on Jamaica’s culture while discovering some typical Jamaican cuisine.

During our week here, we were finally able to check off a bucket list item and enjoy coconut water straight from the source. The guy cut the coconut up in front of us with a giant sword, added some rum, and we were off. Delish!

The resort surprised us with a unique lazy river that led to a bar—a refreshing twist on the typical poolside experience. We tend to do a ton of research into the resorts we go to and somehow missed this. We found ourselves there a couple times in the afternoon trying not to drown from all the kids splashing around us.

We always enjoy booking swim-out rooms and this one was no different! Our swim-out room allowed us to get away from people but yet close enough to immerse ourselves in the rhythmic beats of reggae music at the main pool.

Montego Bay’s stunning beaches provided the perfect backdrop for a lazy day. We spent many mornings chilling in a cabana sipping on some frozen concoctions. We always enjoy our beach walks too but our resort had 2 jettys on both sides preventing us from exploring too far down the coast. On the brightside, those jetty’s made the ocean at the resort pretty calm without too many waves.

Montego Bay offered a perfect blend of luxury, culture, and natural beauty. From the comforts of Ocean Eden Bay to the flavors of Jamaican cuisine, our trip was a celebration of the vibrant spirit of the Caribbean. Until next time, Jamaica, “One Love!”
