Fussen was the last stop on the Romantic Road and it led to an impressive site. The Neuschwanstein castle sits perched on top of a hillside and it was one of our main reasons for visiting Fussen. The castle itself gave Walt Disney inspiration for Cinderella’s castle.
There is a bridge you can walk over to for the best views of the castle and we made sure to visit that. Going past the bridge takes you into hiking territory where a 5 minutes further gets you to the end of a cliff overlooking the castle. Few make it that far but the views are worth it!
Lastly pork knuckles, whoa! Not something seen often in the US but man was it good! We were sitting at a restaurant and I was looking around at what many of the locals were eating and a good portion had this so I had to give it a try and sure glad I did!
