Frankfurt, Germany

Seeing as our home airport is Lambert St. Louis, we’re always needing a connecting flight to get just about anywhere internationally. That changed this past year Lufthansa announced direct flights from St. Louis to Frankfurt. No surprise, we had to check this out! The flight itself went by quickly and we made it to Frankfurt in under 8 hours and had much of the day to start exploring!

After checking in to our hotel, we made our way over to Roemerberg. This is the main square in Frankfurt and we didn’t waste any time grabbing a beer and a Frankfurter as seen below. The Frankfurter seems like a boiled hotdog but its so much more than that! It’s smoky and has a nice bite to it and a must while in Frankfurt.

Beer-wise, its kind of different than what we’re used to. We often like to try many different types of beers but we quickly learned that is not possible in Germany. You’ll basically drink either a Hefeweisen, Pilsner, or Dunkel. And not too many variations of those either but we got to hand it to the Germans, they keep it simple and do it right!
