If given the opportunity to see Coach K in Cameron Indoor Stadium arises, you just drop everything and go. And that’s essentially what we did. Definitely something that was on my bucket list and so glad we could go during Coach K’s final year.
Durham, itself is such a nice little town. We stayed in the heart of downtown and could walk to many nearby restaurants and breweries. Bull City Brewery may have been our favorite place.
Touring the Duke University campus was pretty neat. It looks like one of those schools you see in movies but don’t really think exists.
The game itself and being inside Cameron was something I’ll never forget. We went during Winter break when many of the students were gone from campus. So we actually got tickets in the student section. Sure we stood the whole time in the bleachers on a 5 inch piece of wood, sardined next to a thousand other Cameron Crazies, but it was an authentic experience. Next time, however, we’ll just get seats. Our old, 30-something year-old bones, were not happy with us after the game. Oh, Duke beat Elon 87-56. 😈
