Split, Croatia

Our journey along the Dalmatian coast continued as we picked up the rental car and headed north – destination: Split.

Along the way we stopped at a remote slice of paradise tucked away along the coast, Nugal Beach. To reach it, we had to embark on a 20 minute hike over rocky terrain but once we arrived, we were greeted to a breathtaking sight – a pristine beach framed by a huge cliff and crystal-clear waters. Nugal had one more unexpected twist for us, half of the beach is a nude beach which was a first for us (no, we didn’t partake).

Once we arrived in Split, our adventure continued as we indulged in beach hopping and exploring the city’s streets. One main attraction was Diocletian’s Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Walking around the Palace and the streets seemed like stepping into a living museum.

One of the highlights of our time in Split was an island hopping tour we had booked. When we first laid eyes on the boat for this tour, it definitely caught us by surprise. It was a small inflatable boat with 2 engines and seats that made us feel like we were riding horses on water. The ride alone was an adventure to say the least, as the captain said he hasn’t seen choppy waters like we saw in a really long time. So, we were completely drenched once we reached our destinations.

One stop on the tour was the charming town of Trogir. Once off the boat and on dry land, we wasted no time exploring the cobblestone streets and stumbled upon a great little gelato shop that was recommended by the captain.

Ope, can’t forget to mention our friend Felix the cat (pictured below). He lived around a brewery that we visited and so we became best friends. He’s built like a puma and a bit intimidating but looks really are deceiving because he was a friendly little guy.
