New York, New York

New York, New York (cue Frank Sinatra). So nice they named it twice. We could probably have our own website dedicated solely to this city. We’ve been there a few times now and there’s still so much to see and do.

Some of our must-do’s on each visit include: seeing a Broadway show, seeing a stand-up show, walking in Central Park (weather permitting), and eating pizza.

One of the great things about seeing a stand-up show is you never know who might show up! We went to Gotham Comedy Club once and unexpectedly, Jim Gaffigan walks right next to us and up on stage to test out some new material. We haven’t been that lucky since then but the regular stand-ups are always great anyway!

For Broadway shows, we’ve seen the Phantom of the Opera, The Book of Mormon, and Wicked. You really can’t go wrong and I promise, you’ll like this more than you think!

Grab a coffee and walk through central park. It’s a must. It took us 3 visits but we finally made it from the south end to the north end and can officially say we’ve see all of it! Sure, we could’ve got it done in a day on a bike or one of the million carriage rides they offered us. We prefer our own pace so we walked it taking in all the sights. It’s crazy how often we were like, “oh that’s from that movie…”

So far we have stayed in Times Square and Hell’s Kitchen. Times Square is central to about everything so you really can’t go wrong staying there. Hell’s Kitchen is great for International Cuisine but not many subway stations. So leaving and returning to the hotel was a bit of a walk. We may end up going back to New York quite often so we’ll branch out to other areas of Manhattan.
