When in Rome…..
The Coliseum, to this day, the most breathtaking piece of history I think we’ve have ever seen. We were with a tour group at the time and they felt like 10-15 minutes was enough to see it. That’s laughable….So we ditched the tour group to hang around much longer taking in all of the sites to see. Sure we had to find our own way back to the hotel but it was worth it!
We also visited Vatican City nearby. St. Peter’s Basilica is beautiful and we got to see the Sistine Chapel. Pictures were not allowed, however, so just imagine what it would feel like to be standing underneath one of the most famous paintings of all time.
