Florence, Italy

Our second stop in Italy brought us to Florence. Coming from Venice, this is a fast-paced city! I’m not sure we were totally prepared for that but adapted quickly.

Of course we visited The Duomo. It’s made of fricken marble and is just massive! We didn’t realize what line we were standing in but we were in line to walk up to the top of it while wearing jeans on a hot, humid day. The trek up to the top was about a 30 minute trek, in a single file line, up a spiral stone staircase. If someone needed to take a breather, we were all taking a breather. Oh and to get back down, yeah, the same way we went up. So it doesn’t sound great, but trust me it’s worth it! Not only to you get to see the inside of the Duomo from a unique perspective, the views from the top looking out over Florence were amazing! Just wish they had some water for us at the top…. Or cold beer would do, too…
